I have always been facinated by
the paranormal. From a very early age it seems that strange things
were a part of my life, so much so that I didn't question it. I always
though everyone had ghosts, and other paranormal things happening in
their lives. Imagine my surprise when I found out that most other
people thought I was "telling tall tails" when I talked about things
that had happened.
So began my interest in
everything Magical, Mystical and to my mind Beautiful. I will be
posting some of my "real" ghost stories on my Mystic Musings Blog as
time permits. But I am creating this page to be able to post
interesting articles and resources for those interested in Ghosts and

Ghost Hunting - Get Started Guide

Ghost hunting has become very popular lately because of the new
shows on TV like Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, Most
Haunted and Paranormal State. These shows all have the same purpose: Go
into a house or building where paranormal experiences have been felt or
documented and find evidence to accept or reject the idea of a real
ghost. Evidence of a actual haunting is very hard to prove. The actual
experiences felt by the ghost hunter cannot be fully felt by the person
watching on TV. There is a huge range of personal emotions felt by
these ghost hunters like fear, anxiety, illness, coldness and the whole
idea that what they are feeling cannot be felt by others. You must
actually experience a ghost hunt first hand for yourself to experience
all there is to know. Although it is possible to go hunting for ghosts
without any special equipment, it is usually in your best interest to
bring some of the essential gear.
Video camera - This is essential to document and record all the
events as they are unfolding. More than one camera would be ideal. If
you go with a friend you can each hold a camera and record each other
and surrounding events.
Digital camera - Try to take lots of still shots when you feel
something is near you even if nothing is visible to you. The camera
often captures what you cannot see.
Pen and paper - Make sure you record what you see and when it
happened on paper. Sometimes these hunts last until the wee hours of
the morning and becomes hard to remember specific times and events if
you don't write them down when they happen.
EMF meter - This reads the fluctuation in electromagnetic fields.
Make sure you take reading of all areas before you begin your hunt.
These fluctuations can actually be the reason why people experience
feelings of "someone watching them" or feelings of fear or euphoria.
Tests have been shown that high electromagnetic fields in the home can
actually produce these symptoms in residents living in the home. Now if
you can rule out previous high levels then fluctuations are good
evidence of something else in the area.
Don't go alone - Who knows what could happen all alone in a dark building.

Why Ghosts Make Noise...It's Not for the Reasons You Might Think

Ghosts do some pretty bizarre things to get our attention. As
someone who has interacted with ghosts since I was a child, I’ve
seen and heard some pretty amazing things.
And they continue to happen...
Like the other night when I woke up to the sound of pacing in
my hallway. There were two different sets of footsteps that
night. One had a heavier step and a different pace from the
other set.
They seemed to be worried about something and they paced for
hours.
After a while I was able to block out the noise and I went back
to sleep.
I realize that sounds like an unusual response, but unexplained
noises happen so often in my life I just flow with it most of
the time.
Too, ghosts are really very egocentric. To them the only
problems that exist are theirs.
They crave attention. Which is why they make the noises they
do.
They go through their days and nights mostly being around
people who can’t see or hear them. So they do what they can to
get noticed. Being noticed often becomes a life purpose for many
ghosts since they feed off of that attention.
I received an email recently from a reader who is regularly
visited by spirits and we began discussing the creative ways in
which ghosts and other spirits work to get our attention.
Flashing lights, computer and other electrical disturbances are
definite favorites.
That night I woke up at 3 a.m. and went into the bathroom,
accidentally dropping something and making a loud noise.
“Shhhh..” a bodiless voice said from inside the bathroom.
It startled me but I knew she was just enjoying my attention.
She left quickly, so, off I went back to bed. I knew she’d be
back.
The next day I was downstairs with the kids when suddenly the
upstairs toilet flushed. Since no one was upstairs at the time,
we all thought this was a little suspicious.
About 15 minutes later it happened again. So, we all went
upstairs for a while, and there was no flushing.
Back we went downstairs, and again, more flushing!
I left the house for a little while and when I came back my
husband said the pattern had continued. As long as someone was
upstairs the toilet was quiet. But whenever we all went
downstairs, the flushing continued.
Later that night I went up to my bathroom and found the ghostly
gal who was working so hard to get our attention. Her name was
Sandy and she told me she was lonely and bored. She felt angry
and resentful over hard times and betrayals from her life as
well as a tragic death.
Her energy was a little threatening and distrusting. So, rather
than running the risk of losing her again, I quickly turned the
conversation to going home. She was ready and with my help, went
to the Other Side easily.
Usually people think that ghosts haunt or make noise to scare
or intimidate. Sometimes that’s the case, but more often than
not they make noise to get attention.
Ghosts are stuck and unhappy and they make noise for attention
and to try to get help.
